Car hire in Alanya is both a quick escape from the all-inclusive routine and a comfortable option for winter stays. Alanya is the easternmost major resort on the Turkish Riviera, with mild winters year-round and one of the largest permanent German and Russian-speaking expat communities in Türkiye — especially in Mahmutlar, Kestel and Tosmur.
"Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) sits 35 km from the city centre — twenty-five minutes from Cleopatra Beach to the runway. That's rare logistics for a coastal resort."
The D400 coastal road towards Side, Manavgat and beyond is completely toll-free — no HGS charges in the region. The hire market in Alanya operates all year round: around twenty operators stay active in both winter and summer, and off-season prices are 30–50% lower than in August.
Opinie o wypożyczalniach samochodów w Alanyi
There are two straightforward ways to get a car in Alanya: collect it at Gazipaşa Airport or have it delivered straight to your hotel. Both options work smoothly — the choice usually depends on your flight.
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP)
GZP is a compact regional airport 33–41 km from the city centre. The drive along the D400 takes 25–40 minutes with no difficult switchbacks. Seasonal direct charters from Europe land here (Jet2, TUI, Eurowings, AnexTour). Around twenty hire operators have desks in the terminal: Hellocar, Nissa, Localrent, Garenta, Europcar, AllMeet and others.
"GZP is a small regional airport and the fleet is limited. Book ahead, especially in July and August. From landing to the wheel usually takes about fifteen minutes."
Hotel delivery
If your flight arrives elsewhere or you prefer to skip the airport, most local suppliers will deliver the car to your hotel reception. Central Alanya and Cleopatra Beach are usually free. Mahmutlar, Kestel, Tosmur, Konaklı and İncekum are free or €5–10. Avsallar and Okurcalar cost €10–20 depending on distance. The car is collected from the same address at the end.
Alanya is one of the easiest resorts in Türkiye for hotel delivery. The car is brought to reception and collected from there — for short hires built around day trips, this is often more convenient than going to the airport.
Free or low-cost zones
Central Alanya (Damlataş, Saray) and the Cleopatra Beach side are usually free with most suppliers. Mahmutlar, Kestel and Tosmur (10–15 km east, the main expat districts) are free or €5–10. Konaklı and İncekum (15–20 km west) are often free with local operators.
Paid zones and big all-inclusive resorts
Avsallar and Okurcalar (40–60 km west) cost €10–20 by distance. This area includes the well-known large resorts: Long Beach Resort, Delphin Botanik, Justiniano Club Park Conti, Saphir Resort and Sunprime Alanya Beach. Most of them offer free guest parking, so the hire car stays on site at no extra cost.
"For a 1–2 day hire for a Side or Manavgat day trip, hotel delivery is the easiest choice. Pick up at reception in the morning and hand back in the evening — no airport runs needed."
Alanya sits in a good position for day trips west along the coast — all on the toll-free D400.
"The standard plan for all-inclusive guests: 4–5 days at the hotel and 2–3 days of car hire for the Side — Aspendos — Manavgat loop. It fits neatly into a one-week holiday and covers the region's main sights."
Manavgat is 50 km / 50 minutes (waterfall and river boat trips). Side is 65 km / about an hour (Apollo Temple at sunset, Roman theatre). Aspendos is 95 km / 1.5 hours (one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world). Antalya and Kaleiçi are 130 km / 1h45 — a relaxed half-day in the old town.
Further afield: Pamukkale is 310 km and 4–4.5 hours each way (as a day trip it's tiring — most prefer an overnight). Cappadocia is 600 km / 8–9 hours (only realistic as a road trip with a stop in Konya). Continuing west takes you through Olympos, Çıralı, Kemer, Kaş, Fethiye and Bodrum — a long but beautiful route.
"Hire versus hotel excursion is simple maths. A Side–Aspendos–Manavgat excursion costs €30–50 per person; a family of four pays €120–200. An economy car at €25–35 plus €15 of fuel covers the same route for everyone."

Alanya is one of the more relaxed places in Türkiye for foreign drivers: traffic is moderate, roads are good and the main D400 is toll-free.
The drive up to Alanya Castle
The road up to Alanya Kalesi is narrow and winding, climbing 250 metres. Any hire car can manage it, but a calm pace is best. Paid parking at the top is around ₺50–100; combined castle and Red Tower ticket ₺200–300. The car park fills by eleven in summer — go early.
"The drive up to the castle is short but don’t rush. The main thing is not to scrape the alloys on the tight bends. Stay under 30 km/h, watch your mirrors, and it’s straightforward."
Parking around the city
Central Alanya (Damlataş, Saray) has municipal paid parking at ₺25–50 per hour. Free spaces are a short walk further towards Cleopatra Beach. Atatürk Cad. near the beach is ₺40–80 a day. Most resort hotels include free guest parking.
Scooters and Bar Street
On summer evenings at Bar Street, around the harbour and Long Beach there is heavy scooter traffic — riders often appear from the right without warning. If your evening involves bars, walking or a taxi is the easier option.
